Mudlogging Services

Real-time formation and drilling surveillance at the wellsite.

Overview

Mudlogging provides the real-time geological and drilling data that supports safe, informed decisions at the wellsite. Faithworth's service covers continuous formation monitoring, drill-cuttings collection and analysis, hydrocarbon and gas detection, drilling-parameter and mud-property surveillance, and wellsite reporting — from lithology identification through to end-of-well documentation.

Services

Geological monitoring and cuttings analysis

Continuous monitoring of drilled formations, lithology identification, formation tops, and stratigraphic correlation, supported by microscopic and mineralogical examination of prepared cuttings.

Hydrocarbon detection

Total gas measurement and gas chromatography identifying methane through pentane, with fluorescence and solvent cut tests to confirm oil shows.

Gas monitoring and well control support

Background, connection, trip, and pump-off gas monitoring with H₂S and CO₂ detection, supporting early kick detection, loss-circulation identification, and pit volume surveillance.

Drilling-parameter and mud-property monitoring

Continuous recording of ROP, weight on bit, rotary speed, torque, standpipe and pump pressure, flow rate, and hook load, alongside mud weight, viscosity, pH, chlorides, and pit volumes.

Formation and pressure evaluation

Reservoir interval identification, net pay estimation, and reservoir quality assessment, with abnormal pressure detection and pore pressure trend analysis.

Reporting and data acquisition

Daily drilling, geological, and gas reports, lithology logs, bit records, and end-of-well documentation, with real-time transmission and live dashboards for office-based personnel.

Why Faithworth for mudlogging

  • Real-time data supporting geological interpretation, drilling optimisation, and early kick detection.
  • Applied across all well types, from vertical through highly deviated, in Niger Delta formations and beyond.
  • Industry safety standards upheld, with no recorded incident or accident on mudlogging operations.
  • Remote operations support, with real-time transmission and cloud-based data sharing.
  • Delivered in partnership with an international mudlogging technology provider.
